Sworn disciples of prog and proto-metal, Molten Gold  move in a landscape defined by acts such as Deep Purple, Captain Beyond and Uriah Heep. The group's sound is a mix of power and complexity, fuelled by organ riffs, fuzz and phasers.

In 2017, the band issued a self-released EP, of which British Powerplay Rock & Metal Magazine gave a 7/10 and described as having "... tight Deep Purple style punctuation and Zeppelin guitar breaks. But there is also a freshness and contemporary feel, making this a very decent debut release." The EP's title track was included on British Terrorizer Magazine's CD Fear Candy 165.

In Februrary, 2020, the band released the vinyl single Rebirth b/w Chain and Tether through Freshtea Records. Australian Heavy Magazine described it as "The pure blood of rock pulsating in the most classic lines ... plains of looping guitars and synthesized keyboards writhing riffs and the frenzy of bass in a mix that hits your mind directly...", giving it 9/10 stars.

Since conception, Molten Gold has been an functioning live act in their home country. Highlights so far have included the Sagstock festival, opening for Intrigue at Oslo's John Dee, and opening with their Rebirth single release for Hex A.D.'s album release at Oslo's Vaterland. Norwegian magazine Prognytt (Prog News) appraised one of the band's live appearances in the article The New Wave of Norwegian Classic Rock gjestet MIR (The New Wave of Norwegian Classic Rock visited MIR). The article described Molten Gold as one of the best advocates of organ based hard rock in Norway, and stated "Everyone who gets a kick out of old Deep Purple, Free, Frank Marino, Mountain, Atomic Rooster, or for that sake Aunt Mary and Ruphus (Norwegian 70s legacy bands - ed.) should take note of this band, and drag themselves to a gig when they visit a club scene near you, ASAP." (translated from the original Norwegian).

Norwegian music critics The Wilhelmsens summed up Molten Gold with the words (translated from the original Norwegian) "It's always great when bands appear that sound authentic in regard to their influences, and who also manage put their own signature on things ... bands that keep an important genre alive, and who also have something to add ... That's something apart. I salute this."
